Albert Bartee III
My name is Albert Bartee III. I am 29 years old. I was 17 when I got my spinal cord injury, but I’ve always been a positive and optimistic person, and I was determined not to let my injury change that. I used that pain as motivation to learn how to be happy in a different set of circumstances, and photography has been a big part of that for me. Incorporating photography into my daily life has been a great source of therapy. Participating in this class has motivated me to make photography a priority, and it’s helping me to develop more patience, maintain my strength, as well as improve my communication skills and even my people skills. During photography you come across obstacles. When I’m shooting, I often ask myself, “What if?” and thinking about difficulties as things that can be beautiful instead of obstructive has made me look at my life differently. That is something for which I am very grateful.
