As a medical-teaching facility with expertise in treating patients with disability, Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center (Rancho) provides comprehensive medical education to medical students, as well as unique opportunities to serve disabled and underserved populations. Medical students who rotate at Rancho and who are interested in clinical research training are welcome to join a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals and researchers. Rancho’s mission to restore health, rebuild life, and revitalize hope for persons with a life-changing illness, injury, or disability is a concept that is encouraged and embraced by Rancho’s healthcare team to provide quality patient-and-family-centered care.
International Medical Students
In the summer of 2012, Rancho Research Institute (RRI) was honored to host some of the brightest medical students at Al-Faisal University Medical School (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia). Since then, RRI has sponsored an annual medicine and rehabilitation immersion course for international medical students. As part of the course curriculum, international medical students participate in comprehensive didactic, clinical, and research training with Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center’s (Rancho) diverse team of physician-specialists (e.g., cardiologists, endocrinologists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, pediatricians, and psychiatrists) and researchers. International medical students who participate in this program have the unique opportunity to interact with a multi-cultural patient population, many of whom live with disability and come from low socio-economic backgrounds. Each year, Rancho and RRI work to expand this program and offer more services to our global medical community and its students.
