Reggie is a shining example of resilience and strength, changing the image of disability to ability, one job at a time.
We recently had the honor of sitting down with Reggie, and this is what he had to say:
"I started here just being a part of the Pathokinesiology Lab, and then I landed a job at Rancho Works Café. Now I'm headed toward further employment in the gym, which feels like a promotion."
"I've always known that Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center was a special place because I saw others with disabilities, and they seemed to be living happy, joyous lives. I wanted to be a part of it."
"I thought after my injury that there was no chance for me in happiness and joy anymore, but coming right here at Rancho and seeing other people in the same shape and sometimes worse than me, still trying... I never gave up."
To anyone facing similar challenges, Reggie offers this advice:
"There's life after injury. You may never walk again—only the Lord knows that—but if you never fully recover, there's still something for us to do. You still have self-worth, and you have a lot to give." 🏅
Despite the hardships, Reggie now lives what he describes as his "best life," proving that there's always a chance for joy and fulfillment, no matter what life throws at you.
Thank you, Reggie, for reminding us all that with perseverance and a supportive community, there is always a path to a fulfilling and purpose-driven life.
